Why you should work with me
In order to maintain excellent health, one must first take care of one’s digestive system. It provides nourishment to your body. Neurotransmitters and 70% of your immune system are produced in this area. Mental health issues such as anxiety and sadness can be caused by a lack of good gut health.
For me, nutrition and lifestyle modifications, as well as the use of nutritional supplements and herbal medication when appropriate, are the best ways to achieve optimal health and well-being.
As a physician, I believe in discovering the fundamental cause of chronic illness and treating the complete person, not simply concealing the symptoms, in order to restore health.
An hour is allotted for the first meeting. While we’re talking, I’ll poke around in your systems to see how they’re doing, asking you a slew of health-related questions about everything from digestion to immunity. So that I can better comprehend your condition, I ask you to describe it. Next, I conduct a brief family medical history to check whether there is a familial connection to your current health condition.. At this point, we examine your food and exercise habits.
Consultations can be scheduled in person at my clinic, located just a short distance from Cornubia, at 373 Chatswood Rd Shailer Park, Sydney. For those who prefer to communicate by phone, Zoom video conferencing is also accessible.
Food sensitivity testing
It is possible for food sensitivities to create a wide range of symptoms and conditions. Because of the lag period between ingestion and bodily reaction, it might be difficult to identify the foods that produce these delayed reactions. Finding out which foods trigger an allergic reaction can be done using the IgG food allergy test. Dietary manipulation can begin with these results, which are tailored to the individual needs of each patient.
A total of 96 common foods are included in this test, so you can be sure you’re not allergic to any of them. The following is a list of some of those foods.
- Cheddar cheese and goat milk are among the five dairy products on the menu.
- Wheat, gluten, gliadin, and oats are only a few of the 25 different grains.
- In addition to garlic and onion, there are a total of 18 other veggies.
- Fish and crustaceans such as prawns, crab, tuna, and cod are all included in this dish.
- There are eight types of eggs (yolk and white), as well as meats (chicken, beef, and pork) to choose from.
- There are 17 varieties of fruit, including apples, apricots, pineapples, and strawberries.
- Foods like chocolate, coffee, honey, and cane sugar are all included.
Finger prick blood spots collected on a card are used for this at-home test. Within 12-14 days of the test card being returned to the laboratory, results are usually available.
Stool samples are used to analyse a patient’s microbiome using the Complete Microbiome Mapping Test in order to identify microorganisms that cause disease or disrupt microbial equilibrium.
In addition to the microbiological targets, the panel includes markers of the immunological and digestive systems. Viruses, fungi, and parasites are among the pathogens that can be detected with this method.
Anyone with any of the symptoms listed below can benefit greatly from taking this test.
- Anxiety-Induced Constipation
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Constipation or discomfort in the abdomen
- The intestines are leaking.
- Bacterial Overgrowth in the Small Intestine (SIBO)
This is a home stool test, and the results will be available 12-14 days after the sample is received at the lab.
Anxiety and/or despair affect the majority of people at some point in their lives. Most of us will go on, but others of us may be haunted by it for years or even decades. Mental health illnesses are frequently associated with nutritional deficits, according to research. A bad digestive system may be to blame, but a poor diet could also be to blame. The poor synthesis of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and GABA, to mention a few, can be caused by these nutritional inadequacies.
Use the Mood Appraisal questionnaire to see which neurotransmitter pathways could use some extra assistance. When you sign up for an account, you’ll receive an email with a 66-question mood assessment form. Neurotransmitter status can be gleaned from the answers to the questions, which are each linked to one or more neurotransmitters.
A variety of neurotransmitters, including Serotonin, Melatonin and Dopamine, as well as GABA and Endogenous Opioids are tested in this test. After answering the questionnaire, the customer will have an idea of which neurotransmitter precursors and co-factors are best suited to their particular situation. These include amino acids, as well as vitamins and botanicals that can boost metabolic pathways and support the HPA axis.
The MTHFR gene has a polymorphism that affects up to 40% of the population. As a result, gene expression may be negatively impacted by this. From either parent, you can inherit a gene mutation. When a single “heterozygous” mutation occurs, methylation function can be reduced by 40%, but when two “homozygous” mutations occur, methylation function can be reduced by 70%.
The following are some of the more prevalent symptoms of an MTHFR mutation.
- Predisposition for cardiovascular disease can be traced back in your family tree.
- Miscarriages in women with a family history of the condition
- An anxious or depressed person’s ancestors
A saliva sample, a swab of the inside of the cheek, is used to test for MTHFR polymorphisms. In our Wellbeing Bundle, we identify the most important MTHFR polymorphisms and explain how they affect numerous bodily functions, such as:
- Functions of neurotransmitters
- Metabolic process of hormones
- The current status of the detoxification pathway
- Status of antioxidants
- Transport, absorption, and metabolism of nutrients
- Consumption of energy
- Predisposition to heart disease
- Expression of DNA
