Gut Microbiome Testing
How gut microbiome testing can improve your gut health. Complete Microbiome Mapping is a tool that we use in clinic to find out what’s going on in your gut. The test is designed to assess your microbiome from a single stool sample, with particular attention to microbes that cause disease, or that disrupt normal microbial balance and contribute to dysbiosis of the gastrointestinal flora and contribute to illness.
The panel is a comprehensive collection of microbial targets as well as immune and digestive markers. It screens for pathogenic bacteria (bad), commensal bacteria (good), opportunistic pathogens, fungi, viruses, and parasites.
The test identifies the state of gastrointestinal functional markers such as Calprotectin, Pancreatic Elastase, Faecal Secretory IgA, Faecal Zonulin, Faecal B-Glucuronidase, Steatocrit and anti-gliadin IgA. It also identifies pathogens such as parasites, worms, pathogenic bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeast that need to be addressed. The status of beneficial bacterial strains is measured along with the status of short-chain fatty acids which are the main source of energy for your but microbiome.
It is an easy-to-use home stool test that can help to find the root cause of the following conditions
- Abdominal pains
- Leaky gut symptoms
When the test has been ordered, a kit will be sent to your home which contains everything you need, along with instructions. Once you have completed the test it is then sent back to the lab for analysis via express post. Results will take around 2 weeks and are interpreted for you during a follow-up consultation. Then, treatment can be commenced to combat any issues found in an effort to restore optimal gut health.
